Skin needling (you might have seen a lot of at-home microneedling rollers popping up in your favourite online beauty shops!) can help with acne scarring, collagen stimulation, improving pigmentation, refining pores and just giving you greater glow. 

Kind beauty doesn’t mean we’re opposed to high-tech devices that can improve skin health and support the effectiveness of the skincare products we use in our facials and that you use at home.

 

What is it?

I’ve chosen the EXCEED medical device for our skin needling therapy as it is the only clinically proven machine to treat acne scarring, reduce the depth of scars and normalise skin structure. That, and it has the highest level of industry approval - listed in Australia with the TGA.

What it isn’t?

This isn’t the vampire facial (PRP)  though it has very similar results,  especially as we can now infuse incredible serums with it! We can also get right up under your eyes with this particular machine, giving amazing results in just a few sessions.  We do not need to go very deep with this machine, so you won't be left with a bloody face,  at most you will leave with a red face and feeling a bit sunburnt. It's like laser without the down time! 

 

How does it work? 

Simply, skin needling is using a device (in our case the Exceed medical device) to create hundreds of invisible punctures to the top layer of the skin to stimulate cell turnover and increased collagen production. AKA - smoother, clearer and more glowing skin. 

With this particular machine, there is absolutely no damage to the barrier of your skin, keeping your skin HEALTHY at all times. 

It sounds far worse than it actually is! 

Seeing trained professionals for this treatment means you are able to work to target specific skin concerns and ensure the right skin cells are being triggered during each treatment. Just as we do in all our Kinder rituals, we’ll look to your skin for what it needs and what it can handle at any given time. We aren’t going to push your skin or subject it to a treatment it cannot tolerate. 

Depending on the goals we will agree upon - whether you want to reduce acne scarring or reduce fine lines and wrinkles - we will modify the needle depth and frequency to address the specific skin goal. 

What results can you expect?

As with any other product or treatment, results will vary from person to person. However, generally speaking, the main results you can expect from a course of skin needling treatments include:

Best of all, there is minimal downtime and less chance of pain and side effects with this treatment. It is about maintaining the skin’s integrity at all times. 

You need to take the rest of the day off and no exercise for 48 hours and no hot yoga/running/Hit sessions/ saunas for 2 weeks.  You can of course walk, do pilates, slow flow yoga  and your usual low impact exercise.

New clients of Kinder will need to visit for a NEW CLIENT 90 minute consultation and facial to assess suitability for the treatment. We will need to reassess your skin to ensure it is in suitable condition for the treatment. Talk to us at your next regular appointment. 

If all is well, our first step will be a one-hour Awaken facial including our Dermalux LED light treatment to prepare your skin for the first skin needling treatment, or we may be able to start straight away. It really depends on where you are at with your skin. 

Note, it may take 4-12 weeks to get your skin in the best condition to receive the skin needling treatment. Think of it as training for a marathon. You don’t just lace up your trainers and run 42kms on day one, right? Start on your internals NOW to get a head start.

How Many treatments will I need?

Premature ageing/fine lines/plumping/ brightening we recommend 3-4 treatments every 4-8weeks. 

Acne scar reduction will require around 6 treatment every 4-8 weeks

( we will always advise you what length in between is best for you)  

 

What do I need to do the week before?

3-5 DAYS BEFORE PROCEDURE: Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Vitamin C, or any “anti-aging” products. Also, avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated.
