4 Self Care Rituals To Do At Home (Keep the good feeling going after your facial)

Self-care and taking a few moments for yourself doesn’t need to be a grand sweeping (and expensive!) gesture. The self-care ethos we believe at Kindred is that it is the little things you do, actions you take and moments you create that, overall, add up to a general feeling of wellness, calm and relaxation.

We thought we’d share a few of the things Lily and I do to create these moments in our own days to hopefully inspire our readers.

A soak in the tub

One of the simple indulgences with the biggest rewards, in our opinion, is a warm bath with a sprinkle of our favourite Soak Society soak. Light a few candles, load up your favourite podcasts or latest series on Netflix and slip into the warm water for a few moments of uninterrupted bliss.

 Gua Sha Facial Massage

We use gua sha wands in our Kindred facial rituals and they’re also a beautiful way to create a relaxing ritual as part of your daily skincare routine. As well as feeling great as you glide it over your skin, these small but mighty wands are also exceptional at helping with lymphatic drainage, increasing your skin circulation and giving you that glow. Make sure to always use after you’ve applied your serum or oil. Watch our video on how to give yourself a facial massage with the gua sha wands at home here.

Inhalations

Inhalations with essential oils are one of the easiest ways to steal a moment for yourself throughout the day. Whether you’re seeking a sense of calm before heading into a big meeting, grounding after a crazy day running errands or relaxation to help with a good night’s sleep, a few drops added to a tissue and then gently inhaled with 3-5 deep breaths, is a sure way to bring you back to yourself. At Kindred we are fans of blends by Audra James and Keely Watson.

Sleep

It is up there with “drink plenty of water!” as one of the most common pieces of advice given. And for good reason! A good night’s sleep is how your body can repair and restore. You need it to perform at your best - it is as simple as that. We love using Insight Timer app for a night-time meditation to set a routine for sleep, Good Night Co silk pillowcase for a feeling of simple indulgence (and it keeps skin smooth and hair frizz-free!). And for night’s when sleep seems like it is a distant chance, we’ll sip on a Beauty Chef Sleep tonic. That said, if you are experiencing any ongoing sleep issues we always recommend seeking the consultation and advice of your GP and healthcare professionals.
